Follow Up A/S

At my first anatomy scan at 20 weeks, they were concerned that the blood vessels leading to my uterus were not getting enough flow and this had the potential for low birth weight, etc.

However, they said that 98% of cases correct themselves by 26 weeks so I was scheduled for a follow up. We went in Friday and found that the doc had ordered a complete repeat of the scan. The gracious tech was kind enough to check the blood vessels first - they were completely open and flow was normal so then I could just relax and enjoy seeing Daniel.

He was asleep - seriously didn't move no matter how much we poked him - and his head was up under my ribs on the right side and his feet were down by my hip on the left side and he was facing my spine. This meant no fun shots of his face but we did get to see his head, back, and legs pretty well. They measured his heart, kidneys, head circumference, etc. My favorite thing was when they measured his diaphragm and he had the hiccups!!

He's little - in the 35th percentile - and weighs about 1 pound 12 oz (as compared to the average weight at 26 weeks of 2 pounds) but they don't worry unless the baby is in the 10th percentile or smaller.

Woooohooooo!
