4 month pics
We had Daniel's 4 month check up on Friday and - big surprise - he's perfect! He weighs 14 pounds, 12 oz and is 24.6 inches long.
He is in the 50th percentile for weight. This would be cool anyway but is extra special when you remember that he was in the 50th percentile for weight at his 2 month check up. Our pedi says they like to see babies stay on an "even trajectory" in terms of growth (plus or minus 5%) so being dead on at two check ups is awesome.
For "height" he is in the 40th percentile. Brandon quipped that Daniel is going to be "tall like his dad" which the pedi found amusing - let's be real, there was no way this kid was ever going to be tall.
Daniel is a big flirt and was completely happy and cheerful at the appointment. He demonstrated his rolling talent and impressed the doc by hanging out on his tummy and looking at a book. He grabbed her hair and threw her a couple of huge grins.
And then the shots happened. He decided he hated all of us and squalled as if we were murdering him.
Anyway, here are the "official" 4 month pics . . . and some others for your time. Note the grip on the monkey's neck/face!

Outtakes
Very happy on the morning before the shots
Snuggling with me at the doctor's office right before shots

4 months old (tomorrow)!!
Daniel is 4 months old tomorrow and we head into the doctor's for the dreaded 4 month shots. I'm hoping they go smoothly . . . the one advantage to having a kid who is anti-sleep is that there wont be anything for the shots to "mess up"
I'll update all the stats and do his "official" 4 month pics this weekend but for now here's an update in pics.
Here are Daniel and Warner on the learning foam at school. Warner is exactly a month younger than Daniel (Nov 21) so Daniel "talks" to him and Warner just stares back. Apparently this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
The big news that Mr 4 Months has to share with you is that he can now roll back to belly! He started doing it on the evening of Feb 13 (during a diaper change - don't worry, I'm not going to post that pic!) and has been going ever since. Here he is showing off his "Superman" pose
It absolutely cracks me up that if you put him on his tummy he's super duper mad but if he rolls to his tummy he's happy and will burble at the walls and pose for pictures.
Interestingly (or not, I guess), he only rolls to his left and can't roll back once he's on his tummy. One of his teachers at school told me that most of the babies have a "favorite" direction and stick with it for a while. Here's an action shot - halfway over! He did occasionally lack momentum and get stuck on his side but he gets so mad when this happens that I don't have a pic of it.
Daniel is also the King of Funny Faces and will chatter and smile. I love getting a huge grin from him but it's labor-intensive and I usually can't get a pic. This is from Sunday when he was explaining to me that he enjoyed the Sunday service but would have preferred more exciting music.
Thanks for reading!

We had to go out to dinner with my MIL on Valentine's Day so I passively aggressively dressed Daniel in this lovely top from the NZ fam. I regret nothing.
Daniel is getting a lot better about being in his car seat - especially if there is something cool to look at. Thank goodness he didn't realize that everyone else had food and he only had a toy monkey ...
Speaking of the car seat . . . this is happening. If you can't tell, he's reaching up and playing with the toy on his car seat. This had never happened before Monday and now he loves to shake that thing. So nice to have him happy (well, happier) in the car.

16 weeks!
The amazing Daniel is 16 weeks old today! He is absolutely thriving at daycare - if you have to leave your kid, it really makes things easier to see him smile when his teacher coos at him in Spanish or see him respond to seeing other babies.
He loves music and movement - any big motion like rocking or bouncing usually gets a grin. Once or twice we've gotten a giggle but you really have to work for them.
Unfortunately, he prefers not to sleep. Lately we're up at least 5 times a night and it's very, very hard. I've read that there is a 4 month sleep regression but this has been going on since I started back to work so I have no idea what it actually is.
Last week's "excitement" was the foot of snow that was dumped on us. We wanted to make a baby snowman but the snow wasn't particularly "sticky" . . . soon!
Pics from the last week for your time!
